Equal Work, Equal Worth – Closing the Gender Gap Together..
Our approach
We are a group of students in the 8th grade who want to see our generation be educated in the field of inequality and gender pay gaps that women deal with every day. We want to persuade our school to implement a mini unit or a form of teaching to make sure that our classmates know about this topic.
Why do we choose to pursue this problem?
At the current rate of progress, it will take over 130 years to close the global gender pay gap.
This means that not even your grandchildren may see pay equality, unless significant systemic changes are made now. We need to start with educating our generation so they do not do the same mistakes their grandparents made.
Gender pay gap effect locally
The gender pay gap in Mexico is an average of 20%, which means that if a man earns 100 pesos, a woman only earns 80.
